These are establishments or things to do in Big Bear that the owner of Big Bear Mountain Cabin has personally visited or experienced and is recommending.  It also includes things that guests have experienced and would like to share with others.  The list will be expanded as warranted and is in no particular order.

Peppercorn Grille http://peppercorngrille.com/ located at 553 Pine Knot Avenue in the Village.  If you like fine dining with white table cloths combined with great food, then this is the place to visit.  Haven't gone through the entire menu yet, so far everything has been excellent. Open for Lunch and Dinner, do make reservations especially on weekends and holidays.

Big Bear Mountain Brewery http://www.mountainbrewery.com/ located at 40260 Big Bear Blvd., in a yellow house built in 1925 less then a minute from the village.  Enjoy the rustic atmosphere while trying the beers hand-crafted on the premises, Red Ant Hill is their signature beer.  The numbers next to the beer menu aren't the prices, it's their alcohol content.  If your lucky, someone might be jammin' out some tunes as well.  Tuesdays are the best, beers are only $2!  Buy their merchandise and on your next visit wear it and you'll get .75 cents off each beer you order.

Moonridge Animal Park http://www.moonridgezoo.org/ is located at 43285 Goldmine Drive only about 7 blocks from Big Bear Mountain Cabin, from the cabin drive down to Moonridge Road (stop sign) and turn left, the animal park will be on your right at the corner.  Check out the two mountain lions, the snow leopard, the bears and all other critters.  This is the only zoo in the United States located at an alpine setting.  It's a great place to take the kids, it's not too large and won't tire out the little ones, the adults will enjoy themselves as well.  All the animals here cannot be returned to the wild due to injury or for other reasons. The park is moving to a new location in the next few years, not too far away and could use your support by visiting them.  Additional donations are most welcome.
